March 2026
In February and March 2026, 60 Decibels’ trained researchers conducted 275 phone interviews with Tubeho Neza cookstove beneficiaries across Rwanda, to assess the impact of the Tubeho Neza project.
This is the second independent impact assessment of the Tubeho Neza project that 60dB have conducted: a snapshot in Nov 2024 and now a more comprehensive summary in 2026.
2020 – 2024
A study by Singoma Ronald and Dr Denys Uwimpuhwe from UNILAK (University of Lay Adventists of Kigali 2020 – 2024) looks closely at the impact of rural households adopting improved cooking stoves through DelAgua’s Tubeho Neza Project. This study was conducted in Kiyombe Sector, one of the 14 sectors in Nyagatare district, Eastern Province, Rwanda.
NOVEMBER – DECEMBER 2024
CHWs are the frontline of operations. Their involvement in DelAgua’s Tubeho Neza project extends beyond healthcare, as they are integral to the processes of stove distributions and household visits (HHVs). This study was commissioned to develop DelAgua’s understanding of how CHWs may experience improvements to their lives as a result of working for DelAgua.

The latest research conducted by 60 Decibels for Clean Cooking Alliance provides a detailed and comprehensive insight into the experiences and impact of Live Well beneficiaries in Rwanda.
60 Decibels conducted 146 phone interviews and 34 SMS surveys with Tubeho Neza beneficiaries in Rwanda, providing a comprehensive understanding of beneficiary experiences.Â
OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2024Â
The second research study conducted by 60 Decibels for Clean Cooking Alliance looked at the experiences and impact of LivÉ› Fyn beneficiaries in Sierra Leone.
60 Decibels conducted 140 phone interviews and 16 SMS surveys with Livɛ Fyn beneficiaries in Sierra Leone. These surveys included a blend of qualitative and quantitative questions.
2014 – 2023
A preliminary research report on ‘The Forest Cover Impacts of Improved Cookstoves’ conducted by researchers at the University of Victoria, Trinity University and Bryn Mawr College examined the effects of DelAgua’s Tubeho Neza cookstove distribution programme from 2014 to 2023 on land cover in Rwanda.Â
May 2022
In 2022 DelAgua commissioned an independent qualitative research study to be conducted with 6 groups of respondents.Â
The 90-120 minute group discussions were held in May 2022 and moderated by Prisca Iraguha and Doreen Kayiraba.
November 2016
DelAgua sponsored an independent evaluation of the health impacts of ‘Tubeho Neza’, conducted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Emory University, Oregon Health Science University, and Portland State University. The research team undertook a cluster-randomised trial to evaluate the intervention in terms of coverage, use, exposure and health.
