Christelle’s Story

Christelle has worked with DelAgua since 2013.

“Over these past 7 years, and with my field experience, I have been able to have a positive impact on the rural population. DelAgua has given me the opportunity to help fellow women through our stoves project. Impacting people’s lives, especially those of women, is a cause very dear to my heart. This mother is explaining to me, during the verification survey, how relieved she is that her daughter is now doing well at school. Before receiving their DelAgua stove her daughter had to collect wood every day which meant she had no time for her homework. Now she can collect wood at the weekend she is doing much better at school and her mother is very happy.”

“It is so rewarding being part of a project that is bringing joy to Rwandan families and improving women’s lives.”

“Almost all women in rural areas are housewives. Chores in the household are not easy and they also have to take care of land and animals. All this is done with archaic methods which is tiring and takes a lot of time. Cooking is primarily done by the women and children tend to collect wood for lighting the fire. All of these jobs took a lot of time before they received their DelAgua stove but they now need much less wood and cooking is much quicker. It is so rewarding being part of a project that is bringing joy to Rwandan families and improving women’s lives.”
