On 26th October, Rwanda, through the Ministry of Environment, launched the 2024-2025 Tree Planting Season with a plan to plant over 65 million seedlings over the next year. This campaign was launched in Rwamagana district under the theme “Plant a Tree, Nurture It, Save the Planet,”. DelAgua joined other Government and private sector partners for this event where blended native, exotic species, and fruit trees were planted over 17 hectares.
Speaking at the tree planting event, Minister of Environment, Dr. Valentine Uwamariya, said,
“Today, we are planting more than just trees; we are planting hope. This initiative is a testament to our shared responsibility in grappling with climate change. Each of us has a part to play.”
Through the Tubeho Neza programme, we educate households on reducing deforestation by using our stoves consistently. The stoves we distribute reduce wood use by 71%, significantly reducing deforestation. This tree planting campaign educates communities on the benefits of reforestation and protecting forestry in order to addresses climate change and deforestation.
