S&P Global Carbon Markets Conference 2025
DelAgua attended the recent S&P Global Carbon Markets conference held in Barcelona from 1st – 3rd December.
DelAgua’s CEO Euan McDougall and COO Owen Doel attended the conference alongside global policymakers, carbon market leaders, project developers and financial innovators to discuss and shape the future of carbon markets. Held just after COP the conference provides a platform to discuss and analyse all carbon market topics from Article 6 implementation, CORSIA and the rise of high-integrity standards.
During day three of the conference Euan joined a panel of industry leaders for a discussion titled ‘CORSIA and its impacts: What airlines need to know’. He was joined by Michael Strachan, Chief Operating Officer at BACSWN, Dana Agrotti, Low-Carbon Market Lead Analyst at S&P Global Commodity Insights and Darren Gurner, Head of Carbon Trading and Investments at Gunvor Group.
The discussion covered:
- Key phases and timelines: what’s next for the global aviation sector under CORSIA
- The US government’s stance: implications for airlines and global compliance
- Industry concerns: addressing lead time, volume requirements and offset provider choices
- What drives airline decisions: key factors for a competitive, transparent offset market
For DelAgua, the discussion was a valuable opportunity to share our position with CORSIA-aligned credits and highlight how these frameworks enable continued investment. By unlocking finance through carbon markets, we can scale clean cooking solutions across rural Africa, delivering climate impact alongside meaningful health, gender, education, and economic benefits.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to engage with fellow project developers operating across the continent, build new relationships with carbon rating agencies, and gain insights from highly respected leaders in the carbon markets. We were particularly encouraged by the positive messages shared by Verra CEO Mandy Rambharos on the progress and future direction of Article 6.
Thank you to the S&P team for delivering another well organised and highly valuable conference.
