Path to CORSIA Eligibility: DelAgua Submits Re-Quantification Requests to Verra
I am pleased to share that since our February announcement regarding DelAgua’s pathway to CORSIA eligibility, we have made significant progress in the methodology deviation request for Project 3699 & the re-quantification requests for Projects 4000 and 4150 to Verra’s latest cookstove methodology, VM0050.
Our carbon and field operations teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that DelAgua’s projects meet all of the criteria to allow for project deviation or re-quantification and ultimately CORSIA eligibility. This is a complex and extremely technical process that further underscores DelAgua’s expertise in implementing high integrity and impactful projects.
Preceding this, we completed the necessary field activities including Water Boiling Tests, Kitchen Performance Tests and Audit visits. An audit site visit was conducted in March for Project 3699 and in April a re-quantification audit site visit was conducted for Project 4150. For Project 4000 in The Gambia, the audit site visit was conducted in late April.
Following the successful completion of these audit site visits, the VVB has since submitted methodology deviation and verification documents for Project 3699 and re-quantification documents for Projects 4150 and 4000.
DelAgua is the first and, so far, only project developer to submit a re-quantification request for a Verra project. Furthermore, DelAgua is one of only two project developers to submit a verification request for VM0050.
We anticipate that Verra will complete their reviews by the end of Q3 2025.
DelAgua continues to expand its operations and impact with the distribution of 250,000 stoves currently underway in Sierra Leone, and a further 200,000 stoves in Rwanda to commence at the end of June, further increasing our anticipated VM0050 and CORSIA credits available.
We are keen to work with financial partners and other corporates that are seeking to create real impact for both the environment and rural households in Africa.
