International Youth Day 2022
Today is International Youth Day, a day to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society. The theme this year is Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages – it’s a reminder that we need people of all ages, young and old, to join forces and work together to build a better world for all. Half of the people on the planet are 30 years old or younger, and this is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030.
This year we have chosen to invest in more young talent for our team in Rwanda and have partnered with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator who are working to solve youth unemployment. We have hired 31 Assistant District Managers to join the team running of our Tubeho Neza project which is providing high quality stoves to every rural home in Rwanda. We provide training for all our new recruits and regular feedback so that everyone has the chance to develop to their maximum potential. Tubeho Neza operates at scale to tackle the crisis of lack of access for millions to clean cooking and is expanding into new markets. We need this next generation to help drive our growth and are excited to have them develop long term careers with DelAgua.
Our young talented team have great ideas, great energy, and a willingness to come at problems in new fresh ways. That’s why we wanted to take today to celebrate their hard work over these past few months and hear how they have found their new role at DelAgua so far:

Marie Mediatrice Uwirora – “I am proud of being part of DelAgua’s Tubeho Neza project because with every single stove that is being distributed, a life is being changed. What I love most about DelAgua is the fact that I am giving back to the community. I listen to women in household visits telling me how the stove has improved their lives and it fills me with joy and courage to continue delivering the best I can”.
Innocent Karekezi – “Enormous and most sincere thanks to DelAgua for believing in me. I’m now an ADM at DelAgua and am looking forward to learning from the amazing staff and growing professionally too.”

Charlotte Kanyange – “I was dreaming to help my community, but I was not sure how to do this. I joined DelAgua and the great team have helped me use my skills to make my dream come true via their project. I am looking forward to improving the lives of thousands of people with the Tubeho Neza project.”
Jacqueline Mbabazi – “What I like most about DelAgua is how they work as a family, through helping each other to achieve their goals. So far, what I have learnt during training, is that collaboration & communication plays a big role at DelAgua.”

Egide Abimana – “I’m inspired with being a trainer for better lives, and nothing makes me happier than being healthy, living in a healthy community and teaching about health through the DelAgua Tubeho Neza project.”
Eric Izerimana has been with DelAgua since 2015 and trains our new ADMs when they join. He said “ADMs are very motivated, participative and full of great new ideas. Their sense of humour makes the work easier and productive, I really enjoy working with them”.
