DelAgua Wins at the World Sustainability Awards

We are thrilled to share that DelAgua has won the Social Impact Award at the World Sustainability Awards. 

The World Sustainability Awards are recognised globally as the benchmark for sustainable impact, honouring companies and individuals who set new standards in environmental, social, and corporate responsibility. The awards followed the two-day World Sustainability Congress 2025, where global sustainability leaders, innovators, and change makers came together to share ideas and shape the future of sustainable business. 

The Social Impact Award

The awards ceremony took place in the Garden of Amsterdam, celebrating sustainability across 15 categories. DelAgua was shortlisted for the Social Impact Award, sponsored by Amazon, alongside notable contenders such as Airbus Defence and Space, Asahi Global Procurement, Siemens, and others. 

This award celebrates what lies at the heart of what we do: delivering impact with integrity, and it recognizes the success of our mission to deliver clean cooking to rural communities in Rwanda, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. Funded through carbon finance and in partnership with host governments, DelAgua’s Live Well programme provides a fully subsidised high performance improved cookstove integrated with education and support for long-term behavioural change that delivers lasting impact for the communities we serve. 

How DelAgua increases the positive impacts for the societies with whom we work:

  • Stove uses 71% less wood than traditional 3 stone fire – reducing carbon emissions and preserving forestry. 
  • Cutting household air pollution- reducing respiratory disease and saving lives.   
  • Long-term employment for our 10,000 Community-Based Workers (CBWs).
  • Skilled work with salaries that benefit the local economy.
  • CBWs can pay for school fees, livestock, utilities, healthcare and household essentials.
  • Develop valuable skills such as using smartphone technology, administering household surveys, communications & project management.
  • Improved social interaction; strengthened relationships, trust, and visibility within their communities.
  • Empowerment; particularly for women & girls whose lives are most constrained by traditional cooking practices. Improved social standing, more education, greater leadership opportunities & increased influence within their communities.
