DelAgua Receives First Credit Issuance Under VM0050 Methodology
17th September 2025: DelAgua’s Project 3699 has been issued 1,911,382 credits under Verra’s latest cookstove methodology VM0050 v1.0 following the fulfilment of project deviation guidelines for the Project’s 2nd Monitoring Period. This development makes DelAgua’s 3699 Project one of the first cookstove projects to successfully complete project deviation and registration processes under the most recent methodology.
Euan McDougall DelAgua CEO: “The issuance of our Live Well cookstove credits under VM0050 means DelAgua is in a leading position to provide CORSIA credits. These will be eligible for CORSIA as soon as insurance policies are approved by VERRA to complete CORSIA eligibility and is the critical final step in enabling the market for CORSIA credits to kick into gear. With two further projects under final review, we expect to have more than 3 million CORSIA credits available annually starting from Q4 2025. This will allow us to continue to invest to enable access to clean cooking for the millions in rural communities across Africa who are otherwise unable to afford a clean cooking device. We have so far provided 1.9 million stoves, transforming over 7 million lives, and we are dedicated to accelerating access, transforming lives and nature.”
Verra’s VM0050 methodology underscores integrity; relying on the best-available science to credibly quantify the emission reductions achieved by clean cookstoves. In addition to previous integrity checks under VMR0006 methodology, DelAgua has undertaken further operational activities in line with VM0050 requirements, including Control Household Lists to re-assess baseline conditions over the 5-year monitoring period, more frequent Kitchen Performance Tests (KPTs), Water Boiling Tests (WBTs) and Usage Surveys.
Project 3699’s deviation to VM0050 means significant progress towards CORSIA eligibility for DelAgua’s credits, as 1.68 million credits from this monitoring period are expected to be CORSIA eligible imminently.
As CORSIA enters a critical phase that has seen demand rise by nearly 50% in the past week based on IATA forecasts, DelAgua is well positioned to supply CORSIA aligned credits, having secured Letters of Authorization (LOA) from three host countries, continuous partnership with Governments to ensure Corresponding Adjustments (CAs) are made and Corresponding Adjustment insurance if CAs are revoked, all key requirements for project developers.
As part of the terms of our Letter of Authorization agreement in Rwanda, 191,139 credits will be transferred for ITMO authorisation to the Government of Rwanda towards its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), while 38,228 credits will be retired by DelAgua as contribution towards global emission reductions. Similarly, Projects 4150 (Rwanda) and 4000 (The Gambia) are in the final stages of review following the re-quantification requests submitted in June 2025.
