Africa Singapore Business Forum 2025

Last week DelAgua’s Chief Financial Officer Rory McDougall and Accounting and Finance Manager Yenn Ng attended the Africa Singapore Business Forum (ASBF) in Singapore. A flagship conference hosted by Enterprise Singapore every two years, the conference brings together businesses, investors and policymakers from across Africa and Singapore together.

This year, for the first time, the conference included a dedicated session on the carbon markets, reflecting the Singapore government’s interest in the carbon markets and Africa’s immense carbon market potential. Rory McDougall sat on a panel titled Africa’s Green Frontier: Navigating Energy Transition and Carbon Markets” where he spoke about DelAgua’s successes operating in Africa, the myriad benefits of clean cooking to communities and how Africa is at a pivotal moment to maximise the potential of the carbon markets through Article 6

In addition, there were various side events to the ASBF and DelAgua attended two of these. The first was the Africa-Singapore Article 6 Carbon Markets Business Forum, also organised by Enterprise Singapore. The governments of Rwanda, Ghana and Kenya gave presentations about their Article 6 opportunities and in the case of Rwanda and Ghana their progress with the operationalisation of the Article 6 Implementation Agreements signed with Singapore.

The second side event DelAgua attended was Invest in Rwanda hosted by the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe and the Chief Investment Officer of the Rwanda Development Board Michelle Umurungi. The event brought together approximately 200 individuals from a wide range of Singaporean society to learn more about Rwanda as an investment destination. As part of the event, DelAgua was honoured to sit on a panel with Honourable Minister and RDB CIO to speak about its excellent experiences working in Rwanda over the past 13 years.

Throughout the week, it was a pleasure to meet a variety of stakeholders looking to invest in Africa and understand the continent’s potential. DelAgua came away feeling invigorated about investor interest in Africa, the Singaporean government’s focus on Africa and the carbon markets and we look forward to seeing the outcomes from the conference.
