Let's Preserve Nature
Authorities in Bali are preparing to introduce a tax for overseas visitors to help tackle pollution and waste management. Reported in the Jakarta Post, a new bylaw has been drafted that includes a $10 (£7.50) fee for tourists to the Indonesian island.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the tax would be allocated to fund programmes on preserving the environment and Balinese culture. “Tourists will understand [the regulation]. They will be happy to pay it as it will be used to strengthen our environment and culture,” he said.
